DIALOGUE IN MUSIC THERAPY PIANO PARTNER-PLAY IMPROVISATIONS
FEASIBILITY STUDY
The main purpose of this feasibility study is to explore subjective experience and intersubjectivity in meaningful situations during dyadic improvisations. To capture and analyse the data, a multi- and interdisciplinary mixed methods approach was applied and included questionnaires, interviews, focus groups video/audio files, ECG and EDA data, which have been analysed from music therapy, music psychology, music theory, theoretic and cognitive science perspectives.

As part of this project, the Dialogue Short Questionnaire (Dia-SQN) has been developed to assess subjective experience in dyadic improvisations.

First results of the feasibility study were presented at the 16th World Congress of Music Therapy in Pretoria, South Africa, which was held online, 7– 8 July 2020.
